there isn't much i hate more than "mandatory fun". don't have christmas parties, etc. and expect me to be there unless you're going to pay me for my time. otherwise leave me the hell alone. not that i'm anti-social or anything. and i'm talking "work" parties here vs. "parties thrown by friends". but we had to have a little organized fun this last weekend for the military. i didn't really mind this one so much because we've got some people going down range again and this is probably the last time i'll see some of them before the leave.

jl4... yup. i constantly get bugged to reclass, but i love being signal. it's given me the opportunity to be with tactical, strategic and special operations units. i don't think i'd have seen anywhere near as much of the army if i hadn't been in the mos and been extremely lucky to be at the right place at the right time for some opportunities.
You may not know this, but Signal and MI were once one in the same. What is now MI, was called ASA (Army Security Agency) until 1978, and we all had either 31, 36, or 72 series MOS's. I was originally what was called a 31G, which back in the day was what amounted to a 31M who worked with what was then experimental - Satelite Communications. I guess SatCom is now called 25 something-or-other. Well, to make a long story short, all the ASA linguists and analysts were 31 series as well, but when ASA became militarized (a good thing, by the way) and was changed to MI, the MOS's changed as well. What was once 31's became what they are today...96, 97, & 98's. I was a 98G for years and years, before I moved up to where they take your designator away and throw into the higher rank pool where your MOS doesn't matter.
